As I listened, I spotted a plate in the pile had not been finished. This was the plate of fries and there was one left. I held it out to him. "Missed one."

He took the chip from her fingers with his teeth, careful not to accidentaly bite her as he did then he swallowed it whole and poked his tongue out at her.

I grinned and poked my toungue out too. I ordered a Chocolate Fudge Cake from the desserts menu, half-smiling evilly.

He laughed and as Matt looked over he kissed her wrist gently with a small smile, then he heard Matt punch the table and the small smile became a wide grin.

When she sat next to him he wrapped an arm around her waist and heard one of Matt's cronies suggesting teaching him a lesson and he laughed softly. "Looks like James wants to try where his brother failed that day in gym.."

I watched Matt carefully, worried about how hurt he would get if he tried to attack Lan. Would we have to move out of the town? Out of state? Out of the country?

"Don't do it," I whispered, low enough so that Matt wouldn't hear, but loud enough so that Lan would. I tightened my hand around Lan's holding him there.

He snarled going to lash out with his free hand before she whispered, so he softened the blow as it struck Matt flat in the throat, knocking him back and driving the air from his lungs before he forced himself to walk away with Becca.

I smiled and whispered, "Thank you." Then, my eyes flickered to Matt, who's eyes were now on metaphorical fire. Wanting to wind him up even more, I wrapped both of my arms around Lan's neck and kissed him with passion and enthusiasm.

Lan was taken aback by the sudden kiss but after recovering he kissed her back with equal abandon and ferocity. He put one hand on her bum and the other on her thigh as he kissed back.

I hadn't realised how caught up I was, until I heard Matt's fierce words. "Come on guys, let's go." With the hidden meaning. "Let's go, we'll get him later."
